Multi-Tenancy

A single software instance serves multiple customers with separated data.

Multi-tenancy is an architecture in which a shared software instance serves multiple customers (tenants) whose data remains separated. The separation ranges from a shared database schema with a tenant column, through separate schemas, to separate databases — a trade-off between isolation, cost and operational effort. Multi-tenancy is the foundation of every SaaS platform.
